Precise Gravimetric Dosing using labworldsoft®

Peristaltic pumps are suitable devices in laboratories for reproducibly carrying out reactions and precisely controlling the addition of reagents. However, calibrating different tube diameters can be time-consuming and usually has to be repeated several times. But how can this effort be reduced while maintaining accuracy?

GRAVIMETRIC DOSING WITH PERISTALTIC PUMPS AND SCALES

By combining a simple peristaltic pump and a scale, dosing can be carried out gravimetrically. Using the lab software labworldsoft® 6, scales from various manufacturers can be coupled with peristaltic pumps. The speed of the peristaltic pump and the amount of liquid pumped is controlled by the software (depending on the weight of the balance). Simply enter the weight to be dosed and the desired time in labworldsoft® 6 and the dosing is carried out automatically.

PRECISE DOSING AND RESULTS

The following figure shows the theoretical weight (Dosing - Expected weight) and the actual weight (Dosing - Measured weight) as a function of time for two different weights and times. The dosing was uniform and the desired weight was precisely achieved in the specified time (deviation < 1 %). The data was obtained by using the labworldsoft® 6 configuration accessible under "Additional Information".
