Easy Changing of Reactor Vessels

IMPORTANCE OF REACTOR SYSTEMS FOR UPSCALING

Especially when upscaling reactions from laboratory scale to liter scale, the use of reactor systems is essential. The reactor vessels used enable the safe handling of larger volumes and optimized temperature control through double-walled reactor vessels.

CHALLENGES WHEN CHANGING REACTOR VESSELS

However, these reactor vessels must be separated from the temperature control hoses and the stand system, e.g. to use different volumes or for cleaning. But how can this removal be carried out quickly and easily and contamination caused by leaking temperature control fluid be avoided?
 

SOLUTION: DRAINING SET

The LT 5.40 draining set enables the temperature control fluid to be drained easily and safely before disconnecting the temperature control hoses (see "Details" for more information). After the double jacket of the reactor vessel has been drained, the temperature control hoses can be disconnected and the reactor vessel can be removed from the continous stirred tank reactor.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRAINING

The temperature control fluid is drained as follows:

The draining set contains two valves: a valve for venting (see illustration, top valve) and a valve for draining (see illustration, bottom valve). After switching off the thermostat, the ventilation valve (top) is opened. When it is opened, the temperature control fluid flows out of the double jacket and back into the thermostat. To prevent the thermostat from overflowing, the drain valve (bottom valve) is opened. Either a drip tray (to collect the temperature control fluid) can be placed under the drain valve or a hose can be connected. The connected hose can, for example, be led directly into the temperature control liquid container.



After emptying the double jacket, the temperature control hoses can be separated from the reactor vessel without temperature control fluid leaking out.
